Butte County Sheriff's Communication Reserve

The Butte County Sheriff’s Communication Reserve (BCSCR) is a 15 member, all-volunteer auxiliary unit of the Butte County Sheriff Department. Comm Reserve serves the Sheriff’s Office, allied agencies, select NGOs and the greater North Sacramento Valley region.

Comm Reserve is an on-demand team of communications professionals. BCSCR members set up tactical repeaters and IP infrastructure, program / keyload subscribers, maintain repeater sites and draft incident communications plans. The unit also performs select C2 functions.

BCSCR is a self-financing, not-for-profit and registered 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible. More about donations here.

Incidents


Comm reserve provides support for a wide range of incidents. Previous events include:

Oroville Spillway Incident:
Coordinated with Local, Regional and State bodies to develop communications plan for incident. Helped facilitate OES cache equipment and ensured responding units could communicate across all varied bands.

Wall Fire:
Worked with committed incident units to assess current communication shortcomings, needs and wants. Deployed infrastructure connecting responders in valleys and canyons with main radio networks despite difficult terrain.

Labor Day:
Every Labor Day, thousands of people float down the Sacramento River, and numerous agencies patrol its banks. Comm Reserve deploys multiple repeater systems to the river providing coverage throughout the operational area.

Back Country:
Comm Reserve supports numerous operations located in the rugged Butte County backcountry. From bike races and marathons to drug raids and Search & Rescue calls, each event is unique in the challenges it brings and the solutions it needs.
